I am planning to go to vegas for a week. I have one more week after that and so was wondering what places I should visit. Options I have is 1) Grand Canyon and Salt lake city / or Yellow Stone. 2) Yosemite and some other places in california. I have always wanted to go on Highway 1. I am flying to vegas so i can rent a car drive around and fly out from the city i finish at. Thanks for your help, eragon
We did these things on more than one trip. Hoover Dam and the lake are just a few hours away. A fly over the canyon or a bus trip is always fun. The is a nice road trip to some reservations. Can't recall which direction. The red rocks park area is worth a day trip. Arizona is just a short trip.
Zion National Park is a really beautiful day trip from Vegas. If you like to hike, I highly recommend hiking up to the emerald pools. Very nice. Dress warm though if your going soon.
If you head to the Grand Canyon make sure to go through Lake Havasu so you can drive across the real London Bridge. I've got to vote for heading west to Santa Monica and then taking Highway 1 north. The view is absolutely amazing 90% of the way up the coast.
wow. Thanks for all the amazing options. I think I will atleast try to be to couple of places mentioned above. I have already planned to do the Hoover Dam and the canyon. Red Rock, Zion and Lake Havasu sound good. Has anyone visited any national parks around/in nevada?
If you're in Vegas and want to see something different than slot machines (and have some real fun) then visit the Pinball Hall of Fame: www.pinballmuseum.org/
You could also head up to Desert National Wildlife Refuge just north. Pretty country up in the mountains.
All of these are really good suggestions. I also believe in making a trek to the biggest hole in the ground is a worthwhile venture.
