Doorway or Gateway or Bridge or Portal pages all are same. It is the page generated with the help of computer program. It contains few contents and most of the links goes to other websites. It is created to get high search engine ranking and generate traffic to the website through this spammy page.
Doorway pages are pages designed solely for search engines and have no real value to the surfer, but I wouldnt advise putting any up unless you really know what you are doing, else your site would probably be banned within a week. Those in the know can make websites with thousands of pages in a few minutes and draw in lots of traffic from search engines.
It is worth mentioning that in the past (90's -early 00's) doorway pages were also a bad trend in design where you would usually see no content at all other than a picture and a "enter here" link. In contrast to modern doorway pages they have no SEO benefit at all and they end up causing dup. content issues when they link to a text based and graphic version of sites. I have also seen them cause a site to not be indexed at all. Whichever you were thinking about it's not worth doing.
