I've seen a few logos labeled "2.0", and from what I can gather, they tend to be based on aqua/glass-style design, sometimes with reflective/mirror qualities. Is that about it, or am I off the mark?
Yeah, you're right. Nice graphics with reflections, mirrors, etc., that is called Web 2.0 style. I would say that e.g. Windows Vista has Web 2.0 design.
Yes you are right.. Web 2.0 logos are with attractive colors, mirror/glass finish with some reflection.. May be 3D looking too.
rounded corners, white space, a design that's larger than the fold of the browser, large fonts, simplicity, ... google for it, lots of articles discuss what is 2.0 about
Here's a good overview of what web 2.0 is about: http://www.webdesignfromscratch.com/web-2.0-design-style-guide.cfm
pffft web 2.0 makes me sick, just to let you know its not about reflections or a specific effect.. go look at all the big so called web 2.0 sites and show me which one has reflections! :S
I don't mind shiny and pretty, or looking like the New Beetle, but huge, bloated, content-less sites with too much flashy Flash BS are a pain in the ass to even visit. on broadband.
web 2.0 isn't just a design thing. it's taking your every day website and making it function like an application rather than a website. though somehow shiny and shitty designs have somehow been coined as web 2.0 when really that style of design has been around since the 90's. it's nothing new.
Pretty much right yourself. Basic design, gloss, reflections. Things I personally think are overused.
