What are breadcrumbs?

    main thing in SEO is creating the links between pages of the website. and the mechanism of the creating links is breadcrumbs. so indeed its important in SEO

    Breadcrumb is a hierarchical representation of your page to your main page like mainpage/category/actualpage.php
    Its important for making sure your internal links are not broken and each of the page gets the juice from the usually higher rank main page

    Breadcrumbs are a navigation tool that can help lead you where you want to go within a website or lead you back to a previous page. Having them integrated into your site helps users find their way around. It can also helps search engines like Google sift through your information and rank you higher based on what’s there.

    Breadcrumb is navigation system which shows your current position on the website. This is why it is called location based navigation.

    I don't know whether they are important from SEO standpoint... but they help a lot in delivering good user experience.

    It's more important for larger sites with deeper navigation, not so much for smaller sites.

    Breadcrumbs provide links back to each previous site the user navigated through to get to the current site. It provide a trail for the user to follow back to the starting or entry point.

    In my point of view, using breadcrumbs style of navigation is a better way of presenting the websites inner pages, for web visitor can easily browse thru pages without getting lost
