If you want a tool for SEO only then you must go for Moz but you should choose SEMRush if you want to use it for SEO and PPC both. I have used the both tools and found them really great for SEO. Additionally, you must use Google Search Console and if budget allows purchase AHREFs for backlinks too.

It is the same as in real life. Imagine you live in a small village or neigborhood where you can meet and talk to all people. You greet each other, than you start sharing stories or knowledge which you have. If you shared something useful with your neigbors, they will like you and stick to you, they will also pass your word to others. Then other neigbors will come to communicate with you. If you work in the market it will be mostly same market sellers, if you work in a barber shop, it will be your collegues barbers and your customers, and so on. Same is happening Online. You build relationship and trust with like minded people. Use mostly single source of following/traffic, work on turning first-time users into repeat-users, so that as you grow traffic through one source, you also grow the regularly revisiting traffic - which is more independent of the initial traffic source. No special site manipulation methods will be needed. Google becomes extremely intelligent and intuitive nowadays. It more and more behaves like live humans' community rather than dead soulless machine.

SEMRush works great. Before SEMrush, i was using Google Keyword Planner but i've since stopped. They changed the interface and everything and i just don't feel like learning to use it all over again.
