0.5% CTR is not a bad thing in a forum. You can put ads inside topics, but I bet your members hate you then. Try to add a 728X90 text add under ur nav panel.

i have tried put ads between Thread Index......then i got about 2% CTR but google did not pay me much! like i had 109 clicks but earned 4-5$ per day!

So tell me what else would be best that you have used or would like to recomend!

I have ads under the first post and at the top right (just like DP), but the in-line ads disappear when a poster joins and makes more than 10 posts. They are of course still visible there to non-members or members who don't log in. This works by keeping members logged in, therefore they're more likely to contribute to the forum. I also utilise different colour ads to minimise 'ad-blindness'. I'm not on vB, but SMF, but there should be a way to do something similar there.

Google says that "upper is better" .You can read placement reports on adsense, but this not a suprise. If people see them much, they click them much.

For quality of forum, i do not place them between posts, because people hate them. You earn a bit less today but with this tactic you will be able to get more in future.Think this...

You can follow teamxbox's layout and do a right column. Seems to work well.

with my forum best click-throughs are for the ad i implemented after first post of each topic with a 728x90 banner. The board still flows smoothly but the advertising is still visiable and many people a clicking it compared to my other advertiseents on it at top and bottom of each page
