    Hi TG
I hope the information below is of some help to you.

    1. What are backorder domains?
A backorder domain is one that is currently registered to another person or company but is due to expire in the near future. By backordering, you have the opportunity to purchase it if the current owners don't re-register it before the expiration date. If they allow it to expire, the domain registrar will submit an application to purchase it.

    2. Are backordered domains safe?
When opting to purchase a backorder domain, check the domain registrar's policies. While you are supposed to be refunded if your attempt at purchase is unsuccessful, less than scrupulous companies may not give your money back. Also check the refund policy to ensure you will get a refund and not a credit.

    3. When you buy one, is it yours?
As explained in the first question, quick answer, no. Only if the domain has expired and is not renewed before the expiry date do you have the opportunity to purchase the domain.

Backordering is certainly one way to attempt to get high quality domains, but it has it's challenges.

    Regards

I guess you are not talking about buy backordered domain from others. You might mean you are ordering the backorder service from some site. If you do, you are just placing an order to the backorder service provider, they will help you to snap the domain name when it is dropped. If you are lucky, I mean 1) the provider registers the name successfully 2) you are the only one to backorder the domain name, the domain name will be transferred to you. But, most of the backorder service providers allow multiple people to backorder the same domain name, so when the domain name is snapped, people will join the auction session, providers can earn more from the domain name.

Wish my explaination is helpful to you.

    1) u can place a order for any domain and those companies watch that domain and reg if they expires
    2) depends on how they were used
3)normally yes. but can be taken away if u reg/backorder TM names

A backorder domain is simply an order for a domain that is about to expire. There is nothing unsafe about purchasing one and when you manage to get it, it is indeed yours.

The only catch is you are not guaranteed to get the backordered domain... someone could grab it before you.
