I saw someone selling his service in building backlinks from Wiki sites.

I'm familiar with Wikipedia, but not sure what Wiki sites are. Could someone please advise.

    Thank you

Above poster is correct. Think along the lines of "Wikipedia Clone Sites" and you won't be far wrong. Some of them do have authority and this link juice can pass through the the created wikis on subpages, so it's certainly a technique that shouldn't be ignored in any greyhat campaign.

Wiki site backlinks are probably good ones to have, from what I understand. They look more natural than blog comment spam and stuff like that.

Hmm...yeah if you get you get your link in Wikipedia, I'm sure that's worth a lot. But to be in a Wiki site you have to have really related and valuable content. I'm curious how this seller would go about that.

does anybody know how to get backlinks from wiki sites without running the high risk of getting labelled as spam (even when you're not)?

I use wiki sites as tier 2 links so that you don't have to worry about spamming your money site. Only use high quality sites that are at least pr1 or above. You can even create a handful of buffer sites to use as your tier 1 links and have everything else link to them. That way you can make sure all the links going to your site are highly relevant and you can change your keywords around if need be.

Sounds like the term "wiki" site is pretty much synonymous with web 2.0 sites. Both are big hubs that are driven by user generated content.
