currently, my computer is infected with a spyware and I installed the latest version of mcafee anti spyware but i don't think it removed the spyware on my pc
I've always been a fan of AVG...fast, free (for home use), and doesn't slow down your computer like Norton and McAfee.
no kidding. free ≠foolproof. that's 2 people now who have gotten slammed by AVG... there you go! the only 'proven' way to keep your computer out of the gutter!!
I primarly use a Mac, so I don't have to deal with most of the virus issues. When I use a PC, I'll sometimes just run Ubuntu on it because it lets me do most of what I need and I don't have to deal with spyware. When I use a PC, I've found that using Firefox instead of IE tends to keep most of the spyware off of it. I'll run stinger.exe or adaware every once in a while just to keep things clean.
I use kaspersky anti-virus, it's not free but imo the best one. I used many other anti-virus programs before but kaspersky i like the most. They are updating like every 5 min which is the best way to keep a new thread from your computer. But I think AVG is a also a good option, if you want freeware. But I dont like norton, its slow, it doesnt find everything and turns your fast computer into slow one.
I couldn't agree more about Norton. One time (not in band camp) my Dad had a hitch in Norton and it screwed up his system something fierce. knightmare is was.
thats it. I use Mcafee(its fast and functional) but as i am using free version so i use ZONE ALARM firewall as well
I started using Kaspersky Internet Security Suite and it’s great. It doesn’t slow your pc down and is easy to use. NICE!!!
Microsoft Security Essentials is quite effective and free. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/security_essentials/default.aspx If you have Malware Kaspersky is great for removing a family of Rootkit.Win32.TDSS (aka Tidserv, TDSServ, Alureon). http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/solutions?qid=208280684 For a paid virus protection Kaspersky is great. http://kaspersky.com/
