What Anti-virus would you suggest?

Just did a reformat and I'm wondering what free anti-virus software that you guys would suggest?

In the past I'd been running AVG, but I've heard a lot about Avast as well. Is it better? Or is there something you'd suggest over both of them? Let me know! :)

I use AVG free and I'm very happy with it. I run it in combination with SpyBot S&D.

I would strongly suggest NOD 32; uses low system resources and runs very smooth! I'm very happy with it.

LOL i do exact the same.
AVG free edition is very OK.
Using as well 'SpyBot search & destroy' resident shield (not sure is it even needed)
And run SpyBot scan once a few weeks. Usually all is ok!
    Never had any problems.

(exept one i cant still delete with spybot - MyWayWebsearch,
which left from one completely useless toolbar i've installed for some reason i do not remember. maybe just for curiosity)

    ---------------------
NOD 32? is it good? heard about it. Interesting. Is it control spyware/adware too?

    ---------------------

I was very happy for a long period with 'Norton Antivirus' too, but it used many system resources, and was slowing down my PC.
Then i returned back to AVG

Low system resources is always a good thing!

    ==================

Yeah, I'm running Spybot as we speak. I also run Ad-Aware as well along side Spybot for the few things that it might miss.

If you are looking for a free anti-virus, few can beat AVG. I have been using it for years now without any problems.

I've been using Antivir, and it also uses few system resources. It does have one pop-up each day that comes up while it's downloading its updates and new virus definitions.

For free use AVG which I use on one computer. I use NOD32 as well and am indifferent to either. I also run spybot S&D and spywareblaster to protect the spyware end of things.

Get a Mac and you won't need one ;)

But if you want to stick to windows :p I use AVG, it's a pretty good FREE program.
