I started using McAfee last year and encountered nothing but problems. It locked my machine up everytime it updated. It was useless!!

    I don't recommend McAfee ....

Now i use AVG which i find much more friendly.

Which anti-virus software do you use ??

The free one of avira..I wonder guys if avira really works well? since I always encounter failure to my hardisk. Sometimes when opening my computer, it says that disk boot failure then I will just turn it off. Then, I'm going to open it up again and it will work fine. What do you think is the problem of my computer?

ClamWin FTW. :D Smart computer usage is the best prevention, so how powerful a virus scan is doesn't really matter if you're using common sense on your PC. That's why I went with the anti-virus software that uses the least amount of system resources in the background. :)

AVG was by far the most accurate anti-virus program I've ever used, but the amount of resources it eats up while doing nothing is not worth keeping it running in the background in my opinion.

That's rather ignorant to say, Vista is just as prone to viruses as XP is and is a big target for virus authors because of the market share Microsoft has in the OS field.

Vista is more secure.. unless you turn various things off.

When I had XP I would get trojans from god knows where once in a while.

Never had a single Virus on Vista yet.
