Well today I created a nice review type landing page for the niche that I am promoting. I advertised on Yahoo answers a bit who resulted in no traffic and also on a couple forums. Well some how in the process someone stumbled my site and I left this morning with 1 unique visitor and 1 page view. Now I am sitting at 348 unique visitors and 539 page views but almost no one clicked my cloaked affiliate links or purchased the product I am promoting. What have I done wrong?
hard to say with out seeing your LP. though keep in mind that nice and clean images will attract your users a lot more and the importance of having Call to Action on your page. How exactly are you linking to to product? Keep on testing layout positions until you find one that actually converts..
Well my LP is based through WordPress so its easy editing. I have redesigned pretty much everything on the layout to make it look more like a landing page than a blog. I have designed a clean header image and logo and for each product I am reviewing took a 400x65 screenshot of the products site and wrapped it into a nice border with some nice 2.0 looking font stating the name of the site and below that I wrote my 100 word review about the site. I am linking to the products by linking the image I created in 400x65 to my hop link and then also below the 100 word review I wrote Try [Name of Product] Out Today... thats linked to the hop link. I think 2 links per product would be enough to get some conversions.
What do you use for cloaking? Don't tell me, TinyURL... BTW, for sales you need organic traffic, not traffic from social networks.
Blackman can you use redirects with wordpress.com? Cause I've been using zurl.ws for cloaking. I suggest putting up a review thats a bit longer than 100 words. 100 words is really really short and people won't be really convinced.
No one knows what TinyURL is lol, that's not the point. The point is that Stumbleupon traffic sucks ass. That's what's wrong.
No definitely not using TinyURL. I have installed a plugin which redirects the affiliate link to something similar to the following : http://www.domainname/go/productsite Well organic traffic is search engine traffic right? I am not really that good at researching long tailed keywords that will rank excellent. I mean I have added a couple that came to my head which are 2-4 words long and in google had only 500k results but had advertisers on the side.
Ramphix Write about 20 articles related to the product, targeting different keywords. Then submit them to Ezine or somewhere else and direct traffic to your LP.
So far this morning I wrote one article. I think I may write 2-3 more today and just wait the week till they get approved to see how they work and convert. You think 4 articles will make at least one conversion?
True but it also yields a decent chunk of bookmarkers which may come back. I've even gotten some backlinks from people who initially stumbled my sites. It all depends on the content. If the content is useful and can be a reference, it has a higher chance of being linked to and recommended by people with some influence. The key is to a) write compelling content that gets people to act and b) getting your content in front of the right people--influence makers. Influence makers can be found at forums, social networking site, social news, and sites like stumbleupon.
That depends on the keywords, and it's so different from article to article. If you don't know how to do keyword research then LEARN IT.
U need to check the review page again, does it cover all the info related to product and has "call to action" theme?
Well I am trying to learn about keywords... My first site I did using amazon I used keywords and Google brought me in about 10-15 uniques a week and at least 3 of those uniques bought products. So I think i may be on a good start I just gotta work on it.
Cool thread. 1. Answers is good - it CAN bring you sales, but also important are the backlinks. 2 Stumble traffic is horrible usually - random and young - BUT also imortant for backlinks. **EDIT - Copying/Pasting a bit from my forum to speed this up and diversify your outreach/link building. The best and fastest way to get good ranking once you have chosen your keyword cluster: Post at least 1: Youtube Squidoo Blogger Wordpress Ezine USfreeads eBay Craigslist YahooAnswers All 2.0 you can think of Kijiji (all.coms) Once you have at least one link coming from all those to your domain, you will have good link juice, if you chose good keywords and submit good content to the above sites, you will also get a lot of initial clicks from relative audiences. All the sites above are still driven by the same monster (keywords), the content is 50%, the keywords are the rest, together they paint a lucrative picture. **The magic word here? 'keywords' - Our whole industry revolves around this one initial important aspect - the process above is general and be found everywhere - but keywords are the true hidden gems that will make the difference between 10 hops and 100 when Bumming... (seo to those keys is a close second - and content based around those keys ((write ups/graphics/flash promos/videos)), is third). Cheers and best of luck with your targeting. NC.
Let's just say stumble 'can' open up other doors for you to end up on a lot of sites/deeper backlinks/hidden in your landers/interlinked from other 2.0... It's not a 'make it or break it' technique so yes I shouldn't have said it's 'important', but stumble can be a benefit to your campaign, just not a huge one (though i'm sure there are people who've figured out how to milk it somehow). All in all though Lemonarian - yes, it's pretty much pointless if you're already doing a bunch of other link juice campaigns... N. **EDIT: Just got a PM with a great question: It is important for google/other SE's that you make your backlink promo's look as natural as possible, do NOT bombard all those sites all at once, instead do increments - not sure exactly what numbers per day/week, just don't go nuts for 2 days and stop - the algorithms are smarter than that and indicators will flag your campaigns in no time... NATURAL INCREMENTALISM Is the phrase of the day << I love that word actually, my whole operation is derived from positive and long term thinktank incrementalism to my goals in life not just online campaigns...
Well I just used swerd's technique stated in here to try to rank good on Google with a long tailed keyword combination and in less than one hour I have ranked #2 position out of 450k results. I am hoping it will bring in a at least a couple unique visitors tonight and tomorrow... Later tonight I am going to be working on more long tailed keyword combinations to try to get more targeted traffic visiting.
StumbleUpon is *extremely* low conversion traffic. These are not targeted visitors. I've had many thousands of stumbleupon visits to my various sites and only a couple of sales. Ever. I mean... to give you some idea I'm quite sure I've had over 100,000 StumbleUpon visits... That's a low estimate. Again... do not expect to make many sales directly through SU. The good thing about SU - is that sometimes people end up linking to you because they find your site on there.
That sucks... this afternoon when I awoke I was like 300+ unique visits I must have at least one conversion and then I checked my empty click bank account. Now what tools should I use to find the best keywords and long tailed keywords with traffic?
