What am I Doing Wrong?

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by upnya, Nov 16, 2007.

I have a site that get 30,000 uniques a month (all organic), and it makes about $15-18 a month in adsense.

It's a simple 1 page site, but shouldn't I be making more or are my earnings about right?

    Any help would be great

Yeah, $0.50 eCPM is crap. $2.00 eCPM is easy to get with half decent ad placement.

Just because you have traffic doesn't mean it will convert. What is your taget audience? Why are they on your site? What can you offer or deliver to improve their response rate?

That is very spammy ad placement and I imagine it doesn't even bring a good CTR. Take a look at the ad placement of the 1000's proxy sites out there and emulate it.

Can I pay you to redesign it with optimum placement? Its only that 1 page, and a logo.

If you cant can you recommend anyone?

I'd say the flashing VGA banner graphic probably doesn't lure visitors either

The traffic is there, but they are obviously looking for something specific. I look a look at the website, and what your traffic is looking for is DIRECTLY in the middle (in the spot where a majority of users first focus their eyes).

Having what the traffic wants in the middle = giving them no other reasons to look around. This means the ads on the sides are NOT going to get clicked. What you need is a LAYOUT redesign. I agree with live-cms... this site would require to be treated as a proxy site. You need to find a decent layout and squeeze the ads in the middle and have users look at them BEFORE starting their search on your site.

If you need help, feel free to ask.

This is just the type of advice I was seeking! Can you recommend someone to do the project. I'd imagine its fairly simple for someone who knows that stuff.

    Thanks!

your site is not even loading, can you do something about that? I will also suggest that you add more contents. Unique and quality contents is the watch wird in the adsense business. Without it, all those tradffic are worthless.

Can you please tell us how you are getting such a terrific traffic?

    thanks

I agree with the fact that the ads down the sides are not conducive to a visitors attention. I use blogspot and when I first started I had ads only on the sidebar. The day that I learned how to put ads in between the posts, is the day my ctr and revenue went out the roof. It is absolutely amazing how crucial ad placement is. Take the advice about getting a better layout and incorporate the ads between the content. That could potentially help a lot.
