I've been using twitter for a year now and I still only have 1000 followers. I search for relevant people and follow them but how on earth do you see people with 20,000 followers. What's the secret?
Its just the people who are keenly interested on it.. Like, If you are interested in certain topic/tweet then you obviously follow them.. they are such people...
Twitter is not just about 'follow' other similar people, remember they are 'people' not bots. You need to meet, communicate and introduce yourself to them in order to convince them to follow you.
To be fair 1,000 isn't that bad. I've spent a little while growing my business Twitter account and have just reached 3,000 followers.
1000 sounds great to me, LOL.... I can get some followers, but converting them to anything meaningful is hard...
I think the closer you get to 2k followers the harder it gets to get more unless you're genuinely providing value to your audience. The best way I found to get relevant followers is to follow the followers of profiles that are highly niche specific.
PS should have mentioned it's a good idea in my opinion to have a number of profiles so you can generate more traffic.
