What am I doing wrong?

Discussion in 'Link Development' started by bamb0lin, Sep 9, 2009.

I have been building links from blogs. I have been connecting with bloggers who review my software and provide me with a DoFollow link. The blogs are niche related that is tech (which is my niche)...

I am trying to rank for a particular keyword ... "task software"

I have managed to rank for #10 but now I am going down.

There are some competitors who constantly rank #1 #2 without building new links and they never go down.

    Any tips?

    Thank you

The number one on Google, attask.com PR 4 has 2,915 backlinks based on yahoo site explorer
    http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.co...wm=i&bwmf=u&bwms=p&fr=yfp-t-105&fr2=seo-rd-se

http://who.is/whois/attask.com/ tells me that the site is from 2005. That is considered fairly old.

The number 2 site has 3,619 backlinks, PR 4 and http://who.is/whois/mylifeorganized.net/ says build in 2004

    Number 10 is jobtraq.com/ from 2007. I gues that's your's.

    http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.co...i&bwmf=u&bwms=p&fr=siteexplorer&fr2=seo-rd-se shows 416 backlinks.

If you want to outrank them, you need MORE backlinks.

Along with backlinks you also need time, google prefer's aged domain to rank over new ones.

Also there are many other factors that inflates serps such as meta keywords, title, title tags etc.

Looks like you are up against authority domains with authority backlinks pointing at them.

Yes, in order to continue to move up, you'll need more backlinks from authority sites, preferably with strong PR. The closer you get to the top, the harder it will be.

Don't forget to make sure all of your on page factors are as optimized as they can be.
Also, try other marketing techniques. Blogposts alone often won't do it. Put some additional effort into forum posting, social media marketing, article marketing, rss marketing, and text link advertising.

If you're up against some stiff competition I'd highly recommend botw.org/business.com/yahoo dir listings to bring some serious trust to the domain.

I believe this is a common misconception, although Google does look at domain age - it is not the deciding factor. A young site can easily out rank an old site.

yes,it can.but,if all other factors would be the same, the older domain would go in front of the new one

To increase the domain authority... does authority inbound links have to point to the same page that I want to rank with? Or it does not matter to which page an authorithy page links to me

    For instance:

I want to rank for task_software with page www.abc.com/task_software.html but an authority site linked to www.abc.com/free_task_software.html ... but there are links from free_task_software.html to task_software.html...

Only the number of backlinks are not important. Make sure you have high pr websites linking you. It would increase your pr as well as the authority of your website in front of google.

Try adding a few links to free link directory websites and maybe you may want to consider finding a good website to trade links with.

Find more relevant sources to post back links to your website on.

You may want to even consider creating another small, but very relevant, website that could be used to post back links to you main website on.

I would be happy to take a few moments evaluate your website for important factors of SEO and offer advice.

If you would like for me, and other forum members, to take a look at your website, feel free to reply with your domain name.

Try obtaining links from other sources such as directories, forums, social book marking sites, web2 sites like squidoo

    and

focus on on site SEO which is good content, meta tags, title etc.

Do all of that properly for long enough and you will succeed.
