What am I doing so wrong?

I have worked very hard to attract traffic to my Squidoo lens.

I got lucky right off and got a few lucky hits who followed through to CB for me.

Reading here I found that I need to add back links, submit to directories, write articles etc.

I have done them all, in fact, I have posted in forums and added links in blogs, written many articles and submitted to stumbled upon set.

Now for days I am not getting any traffic of any amounts.

Am I missing something here or am I going in circles with the hours of work I have put into learning and updating.

    Any input is appreciated. Thanks

Could it be the keywords that you are targeting is very competitive?

Squidoo success is almost totally dependent on proper keyword research.

The platform is designed to help you build great web pages with great search engine ranking for free. However, they still have to be optimized for keyword phrases that people are actually searching AND that are not so competitive that you will be surpassed by older, bigger sites. Squidoo helps you to get found, but only if people are looking for what you are "offering". A Squidoo lens that is properly optimized and a traditional web page that is identically optimized do not perform the same way in search engine results - that's the advantage. Squidoo will get you ranked much higher much more quickly.

Lens promotion coupled with proper lens optimization will result in a steady flow of traffic that will only grow if your lenses provide valuable information.

    Don't give up :)

You should work on few more sites simultaneously like facebook, stumbleupon, twitter ect, also check if you can integrate squidoo with other modules.

No, you haven't missed anything. Those methods you read about here simply do not work.

The good thing is is that you can now move on, and find other ways that do work.

Why not check your tags on Squidutils lens health checker, it lets you know what your tags are looking like. You’ll be able to see if you need more, longer tailed keywords etc - A tool worth checking out! Keep your tags relevant to your topic and check your stats to be able to see if there are any that you might have missed. Your stats will show you any traffic search terms that people found you with - add them and remember to publish your lens once you have. Having the right tags will certainly help you to get the targeted traffic to your lens that you want.

    Thanks everyone for your input.

Being a newbie I am willing to learn and work at it.

I want to work very hard at this and I am learning somewhat fast so I do appreciate the input.

I was told in another forum that if you do not have any tech skills, marketing background or website design skills that you will never ever make it in this world.

I am out to prove them wrong.

    Thanks to all!

    * I am working on the keywords, submitted to many directories and did some more articles. Worked on back links to the lens as well.

You're doing more than a lot of newbies - you're TAKING ACTION - this is quite often the missing component.

Double check your keywords - make sure they are good "buying" keywords. Then if you are sure there is a market for your product - rework the content for a hub page and google knol - create a blog at blogger.com and add your content gradually - making sure you cross link everything you can.

    Good luck
