What All Required To Register a .edu Domain?

Hello all,

I tried to gather information to open a site for our college as i was given the in-charge for the work..

But could not find much information.

Can people please help me in letting me know what all is to be required to get a .edu domain for an educational institution?
Need some correct and straight forward answers.

Would be great if got the help.

Means if an Indian University is not in the list of eligible instt., then we are not able to get a domain?

 

edu is for US institutions. In the UK we have .ac.uk and every country will probably have different extensions.

 

So u mean the institutions outside than US can not have .edu?

But i have seen an Indian Institution having it - manipal.edu/index.htm
This institution is located in Southern part of India.

Seems this EDU was in dreams then...
No other way of getting it for our institution.
