Just today I started on the quest to understand this type of marketing. Im not new to business by a long shot, but this, coupled with the complexities of using the computer is driving me a little batty. Does anyone remember what type of questions they had when they first started, and can you offer some advise regarding what you learned. Feel free to explain it to me like A,B,C.

i would suggest you spend time reading the forum and digging through the posts before you start asking questions. Then you might be in a position to ask questions which would get you a useful answer

Finally, tis imperative that you've mastered your PC, and can put up a basic webpage or website .

I highly recommend the combination of blogs and products from Commission Junction. My Favorite tools are BANS, Popshops and now Affiliate Blog Builder.

Have patience. Make you website site the tool, but focus on building traffic and marketing. Not building new tools.

    Good luck and have fun.

Personally, I don't think it's reasonable to expect someone to come in here and write a treatise on how to develop websites, do seo and master affiliate marketing. There's a wealth of information available on the web, including here at DP. Start learning things yourself. Then, If something stumps you, ask your questions.

Depending on what type of website you have, you may need to blend the product in.

I have a magazine type of website, and the products are blended in with the articles. That actually helped to increase my sales.

Be patient, there is so much you do not control like being indexed by google or what your visitor will or will not do.

Trial and error. Whether it is a marketing campaign or tweeking code give it a shot (of course back up your code first)

DO NOT spend a whole bunch of money on Google or any advertising at first. Get a working understanding of long tail keywords, building backlinks, and other ways to get free traffic.

Go to the site in my signature (self promotional plug). There you will see a section called Basics and another section called Resources. Read that information. It is designed for newbies because it is written by someone who is not a programmer or computer whiz (ie me)

Once you have done that, then come back to this forum and any other that you belong and keep reading and researching.

You might wanna use blogs first, instead of paying for hosting and domain.
Try finding smth that you are passinonate about, then see if CJ has any advertisers on the niche, apply, and start blogging about it.

Next big step is to get people to visit your site/blog. Before you jump into pad marketing, try to do it for free. You can use social bookmarking, social networks, forum signatures, and SEO. there's plenty of info here at DP on how to get visitors. You can also try some coupons for paid advertising which give you free credits to advertise your affiliate products.

yes building a blog is a good idea to start. do not start paying for hosting plans.
when you start getting visitors to ur blog then only think about hosting.
write about the product u are promoting and people will try it if
u explain it in your blog.
