What ads are best for forums?

Could you maybe setup rotating ads so your visitors get to regularly see something fresh, adsense, affilate ads etc

 

You could use adsense, I don't know if it is against TOS rules but take a look at the adsense placement on this forum. (tip: look carefully at the forum subjects)

You may want to consider also using Kontera ads in the forums. This may add an additional source of income.

 

Yeah, I'm trying to keep some dignity though and put them in places that won't annoy people.

I would say copy sites like this one, sitepoint, etc. Mainly this one tho... they seemed to have worked it out pretty well.

CPM is per thousand impressions i think.
