what ad design has worked best for you? border, no border, match, no match, etc...

Some big sites that I visit, have their ads blended and match colors nicely. other sites like DP, as you can tell by the above ad, does not belnd well but matches ok with the color scheme.

it it better to make the title links look like the rest of the links on your site? do you put border to increase the seperateness of the site? how about background color, do you match it to your site?

    thanks.

It depends of site's design, but mostly I make main background same as ad background and remove ads. But sometimes, frames can do well... anyway - personaly I don't like borders anywhere :)

I agree. It depends on the site. A forum for example works well with multi-color palettes; while a content site will perform better with blended ads.

In most cases the Large Rectangle (336 x 280), floated left, over the fold, with the text wrapping around it, same background, same text collor but with RED TITLES WORKS BEST.
    This is from personal experience

Without doubt no border with colour matched to the background is highly recommended.

The best depends on your site.

I have some sites that use bordered--set apart--ad blocks and they work extremely well. I have other sites that have no borders--and so on.

If you get good ads, people will be drawn to them.

One thing I like to do is visit inner pages of my sites now and then. I'll look at what ads come up. I'll go to the sites advertising on my pages (don't click your ad sense links!).

Once at the advertiser's site, I check it out. If I don't like it, I add them to my filter. Oh, another thing. I read my ads. If I spot weak ads, I add the site to my filter.

I make a note of sites I ban this way so I can revisit them later. Poorly written ads don't benefit you.

I'd rather show one spicy ad that will make me 10 cents a click than one poor piece of work that might make me $1 a click. The spicy one will outperform all day long.

Anyway, this goes way beyond ad colors and stuff. Sorry, got carried away. :)

I gues it depends on the site and what type of traffic you get - i would say blending does good ...100% no borders !!

I use frame (border) because it attracts the human eye better, and I had more good experience with this method.

No border & match is working best for me.
Keep in mind it depends on your overall design, site feeling etc.

No border & match is working best for me too, I'd like to add text only ads worked much better for me. Images ads almost got me no clicks.

Personally, I hate borders - however after reading this thread I am very tempted to give them a try!

Remember that we are all tech-savvy and so we can tell what are ads & what aren't a mile off - other people can't & therefore if you make your ads stand out slightly they may get more clicks.

In fact I'm going to try w/ borders for a few days and see what kind of effect it gives.

    Best tip - experiment!

Although I invariably go with blended ads, I think there's something to be said for occasionally throwing in a very differently-colored ad now and then, especially if one gets plenty of repeat traffic. Ad blindness is a real phenomenon, and something we should work to stamp out.
