Internet marketing is just one branch of marketing (just like advertising, PR, direct marketing, etc. are). Basically, it's just like it sounds... you use the Internet to market products, services, companies, people, ideas, etc. Just a few examples would be: SEO Online ads (crossover with advertising obviously) Email marketing (crossover with direct marketing) Online viral strategies Link Building / exchanges Online press release distribution (crossover with PR) Online affiliate marketing, etc. An Internet marketer might do all of those things and more generally, or they may specialize in one niche of Internet marketing.
Internet marketing is the method to promote a business online. For a business to be successful on the Internet, one needs to concentrate on marketing aspects like developing a website which would find it's products and services in the best light, developing a search engine marketing campaign which includes SEO, pay per click advertising, and advertising through other media such as radio, tv and print. I think Internet marketing will only become more and more important and effective in the years to come as the next generation of customers would grow up with Internet as their main source for shopping, news and selling.
Internet Marketing is great as you can market good or services globally, but not on a local scale which you can do using off-line marketing strategies.
Its best to think of internet marketing as simply doing "marketing" on the internet. This might seem a play on words but its best to go back to the beginning and learn what "marketing" is really all about Marketing in simple terms is everything that you need to do in order to sell a product or service This is about more than "advertising" - many people confuse "marketing" with advertising or promotion To put it simply "marketing" is do with what are called the four "p's" These are: 1) Product This is development of the product including market research, market testing, research and development etc. You need to know there is a market for your product or service before you start to sell it - this includes affiliate type products - there is little point in promoting a product for which there is no market 2) Price Set the price too high and you get few sales - set it too low and you may get so many sales you cant supply them all, and the costs of production might mean you dont make a profit. Price needs to be set to maximise your returns. This will include a mathematical analysis of what economists call "elasticity of demand"- this simply measures the proportional effect on sales of a change in price. This is often a critical factor - many best sellers online are "inelastic" - you will sell a good number of them whatever the price, therefore your total returns will increase if you increase your prices 3) Promotion This involves all the usual methods of advertising to let everyone know your product exists. In terms of the internet this means making sure everyone knows your site exists and getting your site listed in a high position on the search engines, using direct email marketing, providing free reports etc. On the internet it is vital to test what methods of promotion are working and which are not. This isnt about following some "guru" or other or what other people "think" will work - instead you must find out by testing which methods actually work for your product, your website, your niche etc 4) Place This concerns the location of your markets i.e. where are the people who are going to buy your product and how are you going to get your product to them. On the internet this could be international i.e. when people download a product instantly from your website or purchase advertising which is instantly delivered Internet Marketers are simply people who do their marketing mainly online. The most successful of these use Ezines or direct email marketing as the primary vehicle for selling other peoples products i.e. through affiliate networks where they collect a percentage e.g.25% of the purchase price. Direct Email Marketing and Ezines should not be confused with "leads" or "buying email addresses". Permission based marketing can be very successful whereas sending people emails when they have not requested them is illegal and rightly called SPAM. No legitimate marketer every uses SPAM to market their products or services
a marketing that offers leavrage . you are going to get reward almost all of your life for work you are doing now .. ( like revisits , SE traffic etc) . Hassle is almost negligible (just change links when they expire or use adsense)... for those who succed its gold mine those who fail , its time waste .
I am amazed at how people make definitions using the same word! Internet marketing is marketing -- or money is money--or colours are colours, etc! What is Internet Marketing? Internet marketing is the use of online resources to sell, buy or trade products and services. The process include advertising, affiliates management, customer service and product or service development. In other words - using a webpage, website or email (or other web formats) to sell, buy or trade products or services. Internet Advertising is an integral part of online marketing. This is the process of customizing products or services so that they appeal to surfers and generate sales, trade or traffic. Advertising may include conventional (standard and well known), modern or guerella tactics (low ad buys, high seo, link excahnge, email marketing, affiliates) Internet Selling is the delivery of desired products or services at an agreed value. Sales always include at least three parties: the seller (merchant), the buyer (clients) and the payment system provider (merchant account). Marketer A marketer implement the various processes involved. Not to make this post too long, I will continue if asked. But please,
