Are they a valid link-building tactic in your view? I've read that if they are in HTML, verses the javascript option of connecting navigation bars, they can be. Then there's the indirect link-building potential of the traffic and networking. I just started one recently and while the link-building is just a side-issue for me and not the reason I created it, I was finding info on the automatic link-building nature of it to be sparse. So, I thought I would ask here. - Frank
Most of the webrings out there are nofollow in one form or another, as that was one option I looked into when I started my sites. Though, if you get into one that has a lot of sites in them, they can give some traffic, so it would not hurt to get into one or two of them. It would also likely not hurt to start one, though, very few are into them these days. Niche would also likely play a part to some extent. As in, you'd likely be hard pressed to find SEO sites willing to join in with you
Thanks for the replies. I started one last week after doing some research, since it was in-line with the vision for my site. I would do it regardless of link building so didn't research that end of it much.
this is a collection of websites from around the Internet joined together in a circular structure. this can be very helpful to improve search engine rankings, webrings can be considered a search engine optimization technique...
