What about suspending revenue sharing on DP ?

I was wondering, what do you think would happen if revenue sharing was stopped on DP ?

    Less registered users ?
    Less non-interresting threads ?
    Higher quality ?
More money for Shawn ?..... :)

Would it be good or bad ? What's your opinion ?

Sorry if this kind of thread already exist, I didn't noticed it.

first i don't think any user regiter to "earn from DP" cause the money is too little, hence the answer for second or third question is NO

Solution to question 3 & 4 is totally up to us. If we spend a little more time searching the forum(i know DP's search suck...), duplicate thread will decrease the forum will be cleaner

Alot of people probably do register for the rev share if they could earn just $15 a month to some people in some countries thats ok money. Tons of people register on forums just for the sig links.

I quite agree with that, I think actually many people register ans start thread for revenue sharing. Just look at the numbers of threads about "how much do you earn...", "how does it works...", and you're right, when you read people telling they make $xx a day with rev sharing, I think it's can be a big incentive.

And then after a month they find out they can't make $15 a month but MAYBE a few bucks, even if they try to bomb the boards with posts with out geting banned. Then they get the message...Welcome to reality, how may I help you. :D

    NO
    NO
Apart from GC and P&R all other boards are already high quality and would remain same.
    Of course.

I am using Dominic's pub-id, and all my money from rev sharing goes into donation, so it wouldn't affect me at all.

I discovered about DP revenue sharing couple of months ago. I joined here to learn and share my experience with other Webmasters. I think many people around here joned for the same purpose. Only few people must have joined for the sake of earning few bucks from DP and SPAM the forums.

I really hope you're right maldives, but I started this thread after seeing one about "tips to earn more $ on DP", many about "How much do you earn on DP" and realized that many newcomers seemed more interested in the revenue sharing stuff than in contributing, so I wanted to have opinion of "older" menbers.

It seems that most of you dont think rev share is a problem or lower the forum quality, I'm glad i was wrong :)

I hope that everybody understood the jest in my voice when I posted this. In all honesty, the only reasoned I joined was to ask and answer questions, learn and teach, and grow.

I had no idea how to get involved with the revenue sharing program, and in all honesty, don't care.

Is it a benefit to have my sig's here. Of course it is. But it's a better benefit to have a knowledge base to search for information on becoming a better webmaster and designer.

Yep very few people make the bulk of adsense money here.

Heck if someone makes over $.10 on a click here we're happy. I doubt it's anyone's source of money so taking it out would have little or no effect on memebers registering etc.

Maybe, but some say they earn $5 or more a day on DP, and 5 bucks is not nothing in many countries.

Lots of people around the world don't make it (And I mean from theirs work, not hanging around a forum).

DP is not the only forum which shares revenue. But look at other forum, they start and dies everyday. Like Nintendo says, maybe some members register for getting extra bucks, but once they realize that it hardly matter they don't bother posting meaning less posts.

I don't think removing revenue sharing will actually improve the quality of posts. It's the kind of thing that people might sign up for, and then stick around to maybe learn something. By the time you've figured out that there isn't much money to be made, you should already have found several other ways to improve on your Adsense earnings anyway.

Non-interesting threads, in the sense of duplicates or near-duplicates, may be a problem. If a hack was coded to check for a duplicate title, or a duplicate post in a thread, and then the user was asked "Are you really sure you want to post this, when someone else has posted the same thing elsewhere?", that might work. If you really wanted to get nifty, you could make all such threads require pre-moderation.

I have no idea of the complexity of what I'm asking, though.

It does not necessarily lower the forum quality, thanks to our wonderful team of moderators. Forum spamming is not tolerated here.
