Sounds very old school. He wants to create a link wheel. Personally I'd question that tactic these days, especially for an individual.

As for taking 2 weeks to create the hosting, he's obviously going hard out and getting them with different hosting companies so that they are on different IPs.

I'd have thought you could DIY through linkedin, facebook, about.me and instagram

It all depends on whether you want to cement your relationship with people who already know about you (eg learning more about the author of a book you've just read, or someone you met at a conference) or whether you need people to discover you based on your expertise (find me biochemists who know about xyz)

Maybe if you give us an idea of who you are and what you need to project we can give a bit more info.

Hello Sarahk and thanks for your answer, years ago a photographer trashed my name online because I didnt want to do webcam for his company, he has a fake photography company but in reality is videos and webcam staff, he still used my pics and got upset at me when I refused to "work" as a webcam model.

I want to get a corporate job (I am business analyst)but I am afraid companies will look into my name on google, thats what i want to clean.

And you are right it sounds like old school, I had the same feeling.

    What do you suggest? Thanks

We've just had this hit our newsfeeds down in NZ
    http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/tv-radio/73779648/Posh-My-Kitchen-Rules-star-hid-porn-history
A reality tv star turned out to have starred in some porn in her early 20s. Yawn. I don't like porn and I feel sorry for the girls who get sucked into that world but lots of people have done things better left in the past.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend stressing about the content he's generated. Corporates will look at you now, at what you've achieved and while they may see that old stuff and ask questions they'll judge more on your answer (bitchy? got-her-shit-together-now?) as an indication of how you've "grown".

Go to an internet cafe and do a search on yourself (so you don't get "personalised results" based on your search history) and see how much of that bad stuff pops up on pages 1 or 2.
Now do a search on someone you know who is pretty extroverted. Look at the kinds of results that pop up.

Take me for an example. I searched for my name and my city.
First page had 7 results that were me, the top 3 were linkedin. 3 were facebook, 1 was google+
Page 2 had 1 google+ page and the rest were other people

So all those links were "free", on social sites and easily obtained.
Participate online using your real name (just put it in your signature).
Publish some articles using your real name.
Enter some fun runs (their results are published online and often indexed by search engines
Do something for the community and get your name in the paper - and therefore in their online version

One of those 3 facebook links was me asking the SPCA where to drop old towels I wanted to donate. Mundane but a better look than whatever the scummy photographer might be trying to spread about you.
