Hello i am going to use hostgator webhoting what about them and does the cpu usage is very important for a new site ?
For a new site you shouldn't have to worry about CPU usage. What kind of site, traffic, number of people on your site at one time do you expect?
New sites will probally not generate alot of traffic or CPU, unless they are something like a Proxy, in this case hostgator will most likey terminate your account. Better to go with a host that does not oversell.
Before you purchase any hosting plan from any company, just go through their terms and condition to avoid any future service interruption. Kailash
Before I order a hosting I allways search at the webhostingtalk.com forum. There you find a lot of problems with webhostings, it can save you a lot of trouble in the long run...
One thing to remember is that 99.999% of hosts will have some unhappy customers, and alot of these will have posted at WHT, by all means check them out but make sure that one small post doesn't put you off.
I completly agree, you should only pay attention to reccuring problems (I also only look at technical and support problems like uptime,reliability,...) posted by different members in a large time scale.
I switched my websites to HostGator's shared environment 4 days ago and everything is running great. I like their helpful 24/7 live chat support. Don't worry about CPU usage issue if you have a new website. HostGator's policy about CPU usage is that none of your file/scripts shall use 25% of the CPU time for more than 90 seconds.
Very true and one thing that you will find with hostgator is if someone has an issue and posts on WHT the owner of HG Brent will take care of the issue and make things right.
the only thing that makes these shared hosts crazy is the RAM and CPU usage for example if you are going to UP a proxy site there you should not go for a cgiproxy script , cause it burns a lot of cpu usage i had done this before and it was using %70 of the shared host
agree with the others. Being a new site you shouldn't run into any issues. 99% of sites don't and hostgator will have other upgrade options available to you as well should you someday outgrow your shared package
Frankly to tell you, they are overseller. But if you plan to host some blog or static page then they can accommodate you. Else if your site is require lot of server resources, then you should not use them.
I was quite happy with their service but in the past few weeks, I have seen some down times that caused to generate 404 not found errors in google webmaster tools. I am bit disappointed with their service but still, they are better than many other hosting companies.
I'm using Hostgator business back. It's great. I like their way support: quickly and friendly When my first time use it, i want to change to new server with have asp mod (linux hosting). They help me to do that. But ...uhm in this case i'm not happy with their work. Have something wrong. So i asked back to my old server. Everything is ok now. PS: - I have something wrong when use JoomlaTags on hostgator - I have something wrong with JCE File Management on hostgator (after contact them, everything is ok)
