Like most of you, I have too many sites (and I continue to develop and buy more, like an addict lol). Anyhow, some are revenue generators, while others not so much. But it's very painful to see my two sites that generate the most traffic (compared to my personal inventory of sites) produce close to nothing. I've had spikes here and there, but nothing consistent. I'll be the first to admit that one of them is an auto blog (the #2 loser) and doesn't contain the best quality of content. Here are some stats: My #1 Loser (7/1/11 - 7/18/11) -18,703 visits -94,137 page views -$61 July MTD (but starting from July 9th; didn't incorporate ads prior to July 9th) My #2 Loser (7/6/11 - 7/18/11; didn't use analytics before) -10,801 -14,712 -$32 July MTD; $950 since 8/18/10 Yes! I have experimented with ad placement. But I must be missing something. Maybe it's the fact that I have too many sites and my focus is split amongst them. Surprisingly, a site with the least amount of traffic happens to be my top producer. Go figure! Just thought I'd share. Traffic isn't always everything.
Well sometimes it's not the quantity, it's the quality and that sure applies to websites as well. Just my opinion. Roger
Some websites have visitors who love to click ads, whereas some hate to. I earned $150 with Adsense with my site generating 40K UV/mo and 600K PV/mo, yet $200 in a month with one receiving 15K UV/mo and 240K PV/mo.
Looks like you are in a similar boat as I am. I know exactly what you mean. I have one with about 1.5K UV/mo and 3K PV/mo, producing over $300, with 7% CTR.
Why don't you grow up and get over Adsense? Your sites could surely target some niches and monetize with some CPA's that pay a lot more than Adsense. You're wasting a lot of dough by directing YOUR visitors to some other service's stuff. LE: I don't want to be rude, nor am I trying to bash your thread. I've seen a hootload of marketers who get tens of thousands of hits on their pages yet only resort to Adsense to monetize them. Most of 'em are confided with it, (heh, that site makes me a grand per month!!! whoo-hoo!) yet only a few move on to the next level. Yes, I know, CPA's can be tricky, you have to work your buitt off to see where in hell those visitors come from and what they're into, but trust me, it's worth the hassle! For fuck's sake (Hello mods, do I get an infraction because I said FUCK? ) once you get 10k's a month join the upper league. Thank me later.
I would install OpenX or just use a simple php script to rotate the ads that appear, then keep each placement with the highest cpm. Just throw every ad tag you have in the rotation: adsense, CJ, CB, any related cpa offers you can find, etc.
Trust me, I'd love to grow up and join the upper league. I might be time to go to school and find the right CPA programs.
Like I said, keyword research and traffic isn't the problem here. Plenty of organic traffic from keywords.
It seems a little straight that you are willing to admit that your site may not have the best quality content, but there is no mention of actually trying to improve on the quality of the writing so that visitor may be more compelled to click. It could be that after reading the first sentence, they are completely turned off and instead of clicking on an ad, as you would like, they simply choose to hit the back button and choose to visit the next blog listed on the Google search engine results. Maybe less time tweaking the ads and more time tweaking the content could give you a better result. Good luck Tiptopcat
I did say it's a auto-blog. I incorporated the blog only to supplement the main part of the site, which is full of unique activity. The blog was never marketed, nor expected to generate much traffic on it's own. As it turns out, it has become very independent and brings in organic traffic directly.
it depends upon the quality too to generate good revenue how is your ads placed . you need to focus on it also .
What are you referring to? Open X is an open source adserver that will automatically optimize multiple ad placements. http://www.openx.org/
I experimented with both Chitika and Bidvertiser, also Adbrite, but the payout was miniscule compared to Adsense. How is Infolinks?
It good to have traffic in your site but it doesnt mean that this guarantee you people to click into your ads.
You seem to be in the same boat as many other site owners. They reached to a stage where they have few sites running targetting maybe different verticals or Geos but still some optimization of income is missing there. In many cases it has to do with ads inventory monetization and that exactly what adk2 ad server is all about. Please contact me nad I will take you through a demo page that would show you the benefits. I would show you simple ways to earn more out of your online assets. Ofer Adk2 support team
