Maybe you don't care but I am so relieved that the lump I noticed growing under my skin is just a fat lump. He called it lipoma, which didn't sound any good, but eventually described it as a common benigne tumour of fat cells which is not even worth removing yet and maybe not at all. For a few days, I don't know why, I was really worried, I had and have a few cases in my family and close relatives, so I couldn't think of something worse. The reasons I am posting this is to share the relief and to let others know a little about lipomas, which apparently are NOT at all dangerous! That's a good start of the day! In those moments who cares about money, google sandbox, css, adsense, php, servers, hosting, domains, spam, cybersquatters, etc...
I have a sebatious cyst on my kneck that the doctor said was a limpoma, it was the size of a marble then after i knocked it it got infected and grew to the size of a tennis ball, rather insightly to say the least. At least your doctor sounds like he got it right, mines nearly gone now but I know how you feel, its kinda scary. Good to hear all is well
Yes, that's what he said! The only worry is if it gets infected! And wow, a the size of a tennis ball! . Anyway I'm glad to hear that it's ok now! Thank you guys! I wish everybody got always this kind of good news!
Just make sure an 11 month old baby doesnt grab yours, its not pretty, I always wondered when those big kneck covering jumpers would come in handy. Get it removed if you can asap, mine was going to be considered cosmetic surgery though before it flared up so make sure you point out its not cosmetic, they wanted to charge me about £2000 to get it removed....
Glad you're okay. There's more risk from a Sebaceous cyst getting infected because it's got a hole in it for things to get in and fester (it is essentially a Sebaceous (oil) gland gone wrong). A fatty deposit on the other hand is under the skin. Both are certainly worth getting checked out though. (dislaimer: I'm not a doctor, just some random bloke online. do some research!)
A doctor called blackbug? Hehehehe, I already thought you weren't! Thank you for spreading some sound advice people, someone might find it very useful indeed!
Most people with common sense would realise that I'm only talking from experience and not a doctor too. But I thought I'd add the paranoid bit at the end...
Nothing like some potential health problems to scare the crap out of you. At least you had a good result
Glad to hear you were smart enough to get it checked out.. alot of people worry and don't do anything because they're too scared to hear possible bad news.
Good news, uca! Has to be quite a relief! You should celebrate by getting really drunk and smoking a bunch of cigars and stuff.
3 years ago i was told i had brain cancer and i was going to die. After waiting for two months for all the tests it turned out to be my wisdom teeth coming out... I think i know how you feel now. best of luck with that lump going away completely.
Thanks to all! I have to admit that there's a nice bunch of guys in these forums, that makes me happy too!
Now I know what the thing behind my right ear is called. I got a fatty tumor behind my ear when I was 5. I hit the side of my head very hard and that grew. I got it check then and the doctors said it wasn't anything serious. My parents asked if I wanted it to be removed, but at 5 I was scared of needles, so I said no. For awhile I forgot I even had the thing. I'm only reminded when people ask me about it.
