Post a lot to keep in readers minds they can always be surprised with new content. I like to go for two posts a day, at least.

Interact with those who comment until there are enough commenters to interact on their own

Write as best as you can, even if it takes you a while to get the sentence correct.

Read and comment on sites with similar relevance

Try to be yourself, and don't force readers to stay on topic regarding your post. On my blog, if I have a 100 comments for a post; only 10 or 15 pertain to what i wrote about.

    Hm here's my golden Rules

    1. Don't scrape
    2. Don't post for the sake of just making a post.
    3. Share. Share. Share
    4. Never insult a reader publicly. It's bad form
    5. Stick to your niche or die. (srsly. I have a lot of blogs that switch from niche to personal. It's annoying sometimes)

These are all good lists! My list would be something like this -
    1. Original Content is important! If you do post other folks content, be sure to use blockquotes properly -
      <blockquote cite="http://arconati.us/">... HERE ...</blockquote>
      Code (markup):
      - or otherwise cite the content source. Always add your own commentary to each post.
    2. Respond to every comment as soon as possible with your own public comment. Your community is building, but they want to see that you actively reply.
    3. Pick a writing style and stick with it. If you are business oriented or more relaxed and personal, just stay with one method.
    4. Posts don't always have to be long to be important.
    5. You can never have too many animated GIFs!!!
Okay, that last one was just to see if you were paying attention. I can't come up with a real fifth suggestion.

I might also add to my suggestions that it is important to write more short to medium posts rather than very long posts. Break up your content into easily digested chunks.
