Do you have any idea if you can use the credit card too when sending money via Western? They have a rubish website and I haven't found any info on that. I think Western Union is a great money transfer service but they haven't been involved in ecommerce just yet.
If you are US citizen you can send money via Western Union online or by phone. The fees are high that's why is isn't used in ecommerce.
miroirc, it's depends, I receive often WU payment from some clients and wait when it accumulate $3k, that way I pay only $100. Something like 3%. Fast and no questions asked - making the difference.
Western Union is and has always been a money remittance service. It does not need to compete in the ecommerce realm to survive because it already has a nice target market. eCommerce would come with its own demons. If you are sending from the US, you could use your US-bank issued credit card online.
If you are Muslim they Blocked your money as Terrorist so forget it ! They are scammer and help for scamming ppls !!!
It's not about you for receiving.. you probably lose 3% because of the exchange rates. These are the Western Union fees for sending money: Amount To Send Fees: $50 $14.99 $100 $15.99 $200 $23.99 $500 $43.99 $1000 $79.99 Only the sender pay these fees. So for buying a laptop for 1000$ and paying 80$ wu fees.. it's quite a lot. 8%.
I do not lose anything. I mean it's good if you send decent amount of money. That way you will pay less. $100 for $3k it's a bargain. Also WU is biggest and most well known for quick sending money all over the world for more than 100 years if I am not mistaken. I highly doubt they will charge low cause of that. If it's small amount you can try smaller systems if they are avaliable.
Very good info, thanks alot. I think there are still people out there that don't onw a PayPal account, a credit card with a Internet Banking service and so on... So I can imagine ecommerce can never get to a 100% profit potential unless you make it easy for everybody to buy, right? As far as I know is a pruity old service but I'm sure once more and more people used online transfer they felt it bad. And since banks now have online services for money transfers between banks and bank accounts and you add to that the fact that fees are so low, I think WU will not survive for long.
Fees are high but from USA fees are very normal. I received 360$ from one of my clients and they deducted only $12 fee for that amount. They have an excellent service. They deduct whatever they tell to deduct. No Hidden Charges...
WU and MG are reliable way to send receive money but the charges are quite high compared to other ways..
