I was a pr5 for a long time then recently went down to pr3.. (going by toolbar only) However since falling to pr3 I have come up on google to #1 for every single search term I was targeting... now on future pagerank thingies i see this http://www.seochat.com/?go=1&option=com_seotools&tool=9&url=www.nextpimp.com anyone ever experienced this? I have read about toolbar being worthless but I have droped -2 pr but moved WAY UP for my targeted keywords. newbie confused =( Shoe$
Let me ask you this: who buys your stuff? Your Visitors, or the Googlebot? I would rather have a PR0 site #1 at the SERPS for all the keywords I was targeting than a PR8 lost in cyberspace
PR has very little to do with actual SERP rankings. IBLs with good anchor text is much more of a yardstick to go by. Looking at the recent PR update I've dropped from a 5 to a 4 for my main site, though in the past month I've added about 300 new links and am now in the top 5 for my main keywords.

Google PR update is taking place. Even if the PR drops do not worry as PR alone oes not decide any ranking as such .It is like your final exam results are based on your prefromance on may subject. As long as you are doing a good & ethical SEO work than no problem
