I recently aquiered some domains relating to the WePad tablet which has been getting a lot of hype from major tech blogs such as TechCrunch, Gizmodo, Engadget, etc. I am wondering what you think these domains currentlyappraise for and If I should keep them for a while and then auction them off? So you are saying the are worthless? I currently have no plans of developing websites on them. Will they ever be worth anything?
I really don't think these domains will ever gain value undeveloped. You didn't do a bad job picking domains. The .com's and .net's are the two highest TLD's worldwide. The .com is the best and I really don't see why people would choose to go into anything else if they didn't have to. As I said, you didn't do a bad job picking the domains that you did, you just didn't do a great job. There is a shade on the domain reselling industry that confuses people to believe that all domain names have values beyond the registration fee undeveloped. It is true that a seller only needs one willing and able buyer to acquire a domain from the seller for profit. However, it takes demand for a product and a limited supply for price increases to occur. Don't ever buy a domain that you wouldn't even attempt to develop yourself. If you are merely using speculative demand and you don't feel actual demand for the product, then failure is usually imminent. The same is true for the Stock Market or NASDAQ. Successful Stock Traders don't buy and sell stock that they have no demand for. If you know what is going on in the market it makes it easier to understand where the market is going (e.g. BRK-B will be above $150 a share next year, V will be above $110). I'm not a long term trader though so don't take my advice at par. I'm a Momentum Trader so I tend not to give advice to others on market behavior because in the abridged hand it can be a monetary disaster of epic proportions!
