Whats strange is the 2 mil pages have been in the G index for a few months and we were getting 4-5k visitors a day... So it seems like duplicate content wasn't the main issue... Then all the sudden I think it was May 19th boom 15 k indexed pages.. only a few hundred organic visitors... This makes me think that really authoritative links to a site, domain age, the other "trust" based factors of the G algo is why Google seems to limit not just ranking but site crawling/indexing...

My clients site has great content/design and site structure... I think relevant high trust/authoritiative links is what is going to pave the way for the future SEO successes... My clients site is only 6 months old so I know it will eventually get the links/popularity it deserves from all the value its giving its users...

Anyways, I think the SEO game is ending for the typical "brochure websites" that offer little to no value and that can't gain quality links and attention... I mean for the long tail and locally targetted sites the SEO game may still work... But at the national/global level unless you got one heck of a brochure site with tons of authoritiative links don't expect to be able to get a ton of traffic.... that's the reality...

The future of SEO is reserved for the creative minds with innovative ideas on getting links and popularity.. the sites who have users that do the link development for them naturally ... the Zillow.com's, popular portals, etc that add great value to its users ... the 10% of the net's players... the 90% .. the small business I think will be forced to paid search for traffic... or rely on geotargetted/local SEO initiatives... 90/10 rule in SEO is starting to take place...

I have clients that come to me thinking they can compete against huge net players in there space. They are overly optimistic and say "I want to be number one for real estate.." .. I ask them what are their "net assets" .. what makes them different or more popular?... I tell them you gotta compare your "net assets " with those of the bigger players in the market .. If you don't have the popularity, the content, the link/domain history, etc... how can you expect to compete with the "net asset" rich portals of today?
