I opened a new thread concerning this topic:

Engines that crawl phpBB without mod_rewrite
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=383789

    because I saw something...
Google and MSN do crawl and index dynamic pages, but Yahoo only index my archive pages. So, how can I kill the archive???

vBulletin? You should be able to turn it off in your admin control panel.

    No, it's phpBB :)
I installed that archive mod one or two years ago, and Google loved it, until now :p
Time to install the Able2Know mod, to see if Yahoo crawls it, and kill the current archive...
    Eesh :/

Oh, and when I said "how can I kill the archive?", I wasn't asking how to do it, but I was trying to say "how can I kill it, and loose all Yahoo visitors".

    *sigh*

    Please try to keep up.

What you quoted was a response to the troll who was trying to claim on the previous page that this forum was using mod_rewrite. What I posted was examples of high ranking pages from the forum with no mod_rewrite.

That post had absolutely nothing to do with duplicate entries.

Notice Minstrel that 8 out of 10 of those results are using mod_rewrite or at least friendlier URLs. I love that *sigh* btw. If you ever come to Vegas I will buy you lunch and you can argue with me more. :)

But that isn't the reason they are page 1.

And you know this how? SEO is PURE SPECULATION...trial and error. I can't see how you can be so certain that mod_rewrite urls have ZERO effect on ranking or indexing. HOW can you be so damn sure? It just seems arrogant at this point to think you actual know anything about SEO...and that goes for all of us. SEO is bullcrap and those pretending to know it all usually know less.

Step away from superstitious narrow-focus thinking for long enough to ask this question: What distinguishes those top 10 sites from other sites? Note I didn't say what ONE THING distinguishes them - what in total distinguishes them?

If it were mod_rewrite, why aren't ALL of the top 10 (or 20 or 30) sites using mod_rewrite? Why are ANY of the sites who are NOT using mod_rewrite in the top 10?

Then look at the other searches I mentioned. In some cases, the MAJORITY of the top 10 sites are NOT using mod_rewrite.

Ask yourself, if mod_rewrite makes any significant difference at all, why or how is that possible?

I'm not asking you to passively accept my conclusions (although they are correct). I'm just asking you to carefully look at the evidence without blinders on.

Well I am done arguing with you Minstrel. Seems like you believe what you do which is that with 100% certainty you are correct. Funny that you have so mnay sites concerning mental health.
