You need to anchor your Google Ads box on the left hand side!

Covers text if not full screen!!

well i use FF 1.5.1 or soemthing the newest, and resolution 1280*1024. ads ARE floating around on the left side, not on the right side. place them exactly the same way as you did at the right side :)

The problem is that the ad code is contained within a DIV which is absolutely positioned within a table. Remove the DIV tags around it, or change positioning to relative, and it may work. What is happening right now, is that if you resize the window the ads remain stationary and the rest of the pages moves.

If it was mine, I would recode it using DIVS and CSS (an external style sheet of-course), but that's only because I know there's so much more you can do and so much to save in terms of load time (which incidentally was quite long). At the moment, you have tables, DIVS, some embedded CSS and layers, no wonder I had to wait for it to load.

Good luck with your site :)

Ok - think I've sorted it out now! If anyone can confirm that I'd be very happy.

Looks like the bottom ad on the left is a millimeter to the right - not really sure why, but it is annoying me!!

    cheers

I checkin it in ie and mozilla and no random floats anywhere.....but...there always needs to be a but....heh consider adding at least a few picels of padding to your contnet because the content but up right against the border....makes it a bit difficult to read but other then that nice work.

    That did the trick!

I agree, and perhaps take out the full justification of the text?

I've added a bit of padding and got rid of the full justification of the text. I think it looks a bit better now. This is the first site i've built using DW and CSS. OMG i don't know how i survived with out it!! Changing those simple things would have taken time!

    Thanks for all your responses

    :::Jamie:::

still a few niggles, the site displays differently in ff to ie but ill get these sorted as and when

Ahhhh, that's better! Looks very good now.

You have used some CSS styling I agree, but you don't have a CSS site as such ... your layout is made with tables and layers. When you get time, learn about CSS layouts and set to creating one with this very good site that you presently have, you'll be really proud.

    Good luck with everything! :)

Oh yeah, i def want to learn how to use CSS layouts. If there are even half as many benefits of using it as there is for CSS styling it will be massively worth it!

    Cheers Tam

Well, when you start getting into it, I am sure you'll get plenty of help and advice here m8!

Its difficult to recommend a starting point for learning, but Sitepoint's Book "HTML Utopia, Designing Without Tables Using CSS" is pretty good for beginners I think (these books can be a tad expensive though, unless you look on the internet's biggest car boot sale - ebay?). You'll hear the name Eric Meyer quoted a lot as the 'Guru of CSS', but I am not so sure he is best for beginners (take a look at his web site - meyerweb.com - I'm not personally keen on his design work, but I don't think he is a designer, more a coder). Other than that, there are absolutely heaps of free resources on the subject on the net, and as I say, if you need help, you can always ask here :)

    Small update:

The site is doing well and getting 50-80 hits a day. The forum has taken off and has quite a few members now.

    However....

still nowhere to be seen in google?! Possible due to the sand box effect?

    What do you guys think?

    Cheers
