Selling Well Established General Discussion Forum For Sale - Parlancia.com

    Site for sale: http://parlancia.com

Will consider offers, but we're looking for as close to the BIN ($600 USD) as possible. Offers via PM are allowed and will be considered.

Great site with a good alexa ranking, assume no ad income as no attempts have been made at monetising the site, though the community has made substantial donations over the past year, which have helped to keep the site running.

The site is established, with a vBulletin forum running on it, the license to which unfortunately cannot be transferred, so you'll need your own. There are numerous Custom, or hard to find vBulletin plugins which are installed, most are coded by myself personally, and a few Premium plugins too. The skin is premium also, you will receive PSD's and such for that.

The site currently has 753 Members, 14,751 Threads and 176,018 Posts. With the right attention, love, and care, this could be a great community for someone.

Domain is up for renewal soon, so when this is sold, I'll renew the domain and the buyer will get a full year..

    Just a few questions:
1.) What happened to the previous sale to Emarian?
    2.) Are the staff paid?
3.) How much does it cost to host per month? (All expenses please).
4.) I could see around 16 ad spots at the bottom of the forum's home page. Are they bringing in any revenue or just link exchanges?
5.) How much time did it take for you to maintain?
    6.) Any paid posters?

Thanks in advance for all the answers.

    Thanks

    Hey,

I'm Jebus and partnered with running the site alongside Mikey (SleekvB Designs. I'll answer the questions best I can:

1.) Emarian made a detailed post saying what happened, you can view it here (http://parlancia.com/forums/showpost.php?p=209092&postcount=53). Me and Mikey are not going to dish out any more money for this guy.

2.) No, the staff are not paid. It is all volunteer work, and they are free to leave any time they want. Naturally, almost every member wishes to have modship ;)

3.) The vBulletin license is yearly, as with the domain name. The only thing we pay for monthly is hosting. We currently pay 8 pounds a month.

4.) This one is best left for Mikey to answer, but I'll give it a crack. He was the one who set up the ad revenue, but I'm not exactly sure how much money it has brought in.

5.) Once we got all the SQL db's and vBulletin uploaded, it took us around 36 hours total to completely set it all up. Over time, we added more features to the website. We've run it for exactly a year now. Daily time required to maintain it is very minimum. It really depends on how much traffic there is and how big the demand is for more features.

6.) If I understand your meaning (we pay people to post), then no. We do NOT pay anyone to post.

If I've missed anything, feel free to ask again :)

Hope you both will be actively participating in the forum activities even after the sale. Without you both, I think there will be no buzz of activities around.

No, these are affiliates, as in, partner sites who in turn, link back to us, so just link exchanges.

Looking to get a little bit higher.. I'll be closing this at the end of the day..

We'll stay around, and if the new admin wishes, we'll stay on as staff to help him/her along.

Sorry, only just read that bit

Do your members know about the sale? I'm interested but sometimes people leave the forums after a sale such as this.

They do know about the sale, and were fully expecting to be sold to another party by the end of this month, which fell through, which is detailed in a thread which is linked by my partner in response to one of the questions earlier in this thread.

So in short, yes they know the site is for sale, and the response was positive enough, I doubt the new owner will lose any members, especially if Myself and Jebus do stay there, which we will.

Please don't hesitate to reply should you have any further queries.

It seems like most of the people on the forum based on their postings are kids. What is the general age range of the members?

It seems I have been outbid twice my offer. Congratulations to the new owner. Kindly let us know the lucky owner once everything is through.

Thanks to both Mikey and Jebus for answering all those questions patiently. It was a nice time bidding here.
