    Do you have any evidence the abortions being performed are on people with low IQ's or are you just being a dummy again? :rolleyes:

    yeah do you actually have links for any of that

    I know that there was that theory by the freakonomics guys that said that abortion was responsible for decreased crime due to most people who have abortions are lower income singles mothers, lower income single mothers being the most likely to raise criminals but I have never heard any of that IQ stuff.

    Eugenics. That's been bunked though. Obviously correlation does not prove causation is the major problem.

    Yes, ferret that excerpt is covered in the link I provided. I am sure you want to believe that exterminating poor people will lead to a reduction in crime, but it simply is not the case.

    People of all societal backgrounds commit crime; be it poor, middle class, or wealthy. In my opinion, IGNORANCE (or evil in some cases) is the true root of criminal minds and acts.

    Sorry didn't want to read the whole article, which probably starts me out at a fun disadvantage... Just wanted to say... The above statement is true. But certain "societal backgrounds" are more apt to commit crimes than others. Be it how they were raised or a myriad of other factors.

    I think the true root of crime is circumstance (although genuine evil would probably work too). But that's just my opinion. :)

    Ok, bitch...here you go.

    Of coarse you'll consider some more reputable than others.

    The [Canadian] CDC also reported in 1993 that prenatal diagnosis services and abortion reduced the number of Down syndrome births to white women in metropolitan Atlanta by about 70 percent.

    http://www.lifenews.com/nat2292.html

    Official figures show as many as 94 percent of women with babies with Down syndrome are having abortions.

    http://priestsforlife.org/staff/frweber.pdf

    abortion of persons with genetic defects, especially persons with Down's syndrome in which the abortion rate is 85-90% for women who chose to obtain a pre-natal test.

    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/01/06/health/main1182961.shtml

    The reported incidence of Down syndrome would be higher if not for abortions among women who decide to terminate their pregnancy after prenatal tests show the fetus has the chromosomal disorder.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/04/28/AR2005042801437_pf.html

    In recent years, 55 percent of Down syndrome diagnoses there have resulted in abortions, said George Cunningham, who heads the genetic disease branch of the California Department of Health Services.

    http://www.mensnewsdaily.com/archive/newswire/news2004/0604/060104-abortion.htm

    Abortions of babies with Down's syndrome, deformed feet, cleft lips and palates, as well as other medical abnormalities, have become more and more commonplace, according to statistics recently released by the Office For National Statistics in England and Wales.

    Reminder of what I said, so you don't distort the context as you usually do:

    'you'd kill anyone with a low IQ. To some level or another, they do that now...it's called abortion.'

    If anything, people should relate two things together....culture and drugs/drug law....those two things play a more significant role in murder rates, crime, and so-forth. Though they can directly effect eachother in certain circumstances.

    Go to Switzerland, where there's plenty of guns (but little crime), and very little poverty. You ever wonder why?

    http://www.swissinfo.org/eng/swissinfo.html?siteSect=106&sid=5571884

    Then go to New Hampshire, and you'll see the same. Again do you wonder why?

    There are perspectives you can take at this point, to compare NH and the Swiss to the average big city in the US, but I think many people are just not willing to step outside of the PC-world and indentify them.

    Are you really trying to make some connection to IQ and abortion? How many of those 46 million abortions per year do you think were aborted because of down syndrome? :rolleyes:

    Reminder of what I said:

    'you'd kill anyone with a low IQ. To some level or another, they do that now...it's called abortion.'

    'To some level' means the same as 'to some degree'. Not all down syndrome recipents are extremely low in IQ...but generally...

    http://www.rxmed.com/b.main/b1.illness/b1.1.illnesses/DOWN SYNDROME.htm

    'Varying degrees of mental retardation. Average IQ in a child with Down syndrome is about 50, compared with normal IQ of 100.'

    Your not reading that correctly.

    Here's the stats on that page.

    * Percentage of children living in poverty:
    * Denmark 2.4%
    * Sweden 4.2%
    * Switzerland 6.8%
    * France 7.5%
    * Britain 15.4%
    * United States 21.9%
    * Mexico 27.7%

    The Swiss have some of the lowest taxes for industrialized nations. Their canton based government is much closer to a federalism (which we seem to abuse as a country). They've been a fairly neutral country for sometime, now.

    I believe your not perceiving this correctly....

    Ultimately ever nation that extensively puts money into welfare has to some level elminate their military to a level (unless they want the best of both worlds...which isn't realistic). That's US.

    Then on the other side, many of the EU countries that are extensively in to welfare also have anemic growth in their economies...most are heading towards privatize many of their governmental actions.

    Generally speaking, I think poverty exist mostly for cultural reasons (in industrialized nations), and then secondly for how the government exists among the citizens. I guess you can say it's a weighing of values....economic growth vs heavy taxation...a general decent sized military or extensive welfare...

    Then you could take a deep look into drugs, culture, and government...which have historically been a horrific mixture. It's really odd to me how they implemented the war on drugs (in the past and now). It's targets have been almost exclusive minority in nature, based on the fact that you get more time for crack...than cocaine!?

    Regardless, I believe the black culture and the immigrating latin culture has made significant steps to economically assimilation....but
    when comes down to it, both of these cultures still have some people that to some level have to recongnize the inherent value in the positive 'anglo-values' or rather european enlightenment values/philsophies.

    Modern economies are all based off of the enlightenment, and while one doesn't have to be absolute in following those thoughts as dictate, a country's sub-cultures must accept them as good...thus my whole interest in moderated immigration to America. People don't have to like everything about this country, but they do have to realize the positive aspects of it.

    I'm more of an RFK kind of person, in that I believe community-based initiatives are far more productive ;if leadership on the highest and lowest are involved in it. Welfare as RFK says, 'is better than nothing,' which doesn't mean much.

    Well, down-syndrome is to some level directly related to one IQ. Ones more medically inclined to be of low IQ. Obviously there's some cases where people are born with low IQ's but aren't recipents of down-syndrome or 'special' medical defects.

    Back to my original point...

    My step-cousin is a 'special' kid, and he has two children. He also has no job, and he's not capable of learning things very well. I know many similiar cases. The original stats I gave symbolize a fairly interesting perspective on things. Whether that's all together the circumstance....*shrug*

    This a fallacy you commit often; it's called non-sequitar...which means it's beside the point. No one is arguing that point, and nor do I care.

    I really wish you would read into logical fallacies.
