    hello,
i have signed up for a 24month account at hostmonster about 6 hours ago, i compressed all my website files in .zip (which was at hostgator) then i remote upload that .zip file to hostmonster account from hostgator.
then i extract the zip in my public_html folder and setup database and upload sql etc..

at that point my site was successfully transfered.

but now when i just opened my mailbox i have received a mail 4 hours ago that my account is deactivated due to the suspicious activity!!!!!!!

    wtf?!

it this how they welcome their new customers?!...

i have just submitted a ticket to their support asking about this matter!

will inform you guys about their reply.

i had - not same but similar experience back few weeks ago with them !

we put online justclip.tv - which uses a webcam script modified by us to live broadcast

before the site was even completed hostmonster phone me - - yea phone me !! home - and ask what they site is for (very suspiciously tone used)

i said - please delete account - as i did not like that kind of attitude.

now with hostgator and very happy with the switch !

What type of site you transfered ?
My advice - never ever buy 2 years hosting plan if your not 100% sure about what you will get ( attitude, support, etc. ).

They do seem to be very up tight when it comes to someone using to much space, CPU etc.

They jump on you and demands you stop using what your allowed :(

it was a promo that if i pay for 24 months then it will cost me $4.95 per month instead of $6.95 per month!

so i thought that better pay only one time and then no tensin of paying for next two years :(

they are piece of shit (hostmonster). I tried to signed up several times and received error 500. how is that for hosting company ?

btw, while hostgator is very good in lot of terms, they tried to scum me and present me some bill with due payments, while in the same time I asked support several times did I owe them something. So be twice carefull with that.

With any of those big hosts you are going to be nothing but a number to them. And if they lose you, oh well, theres 5 other people that just signed up. And saving 2 dollars a month is a crappy reason to purchase 2 years at a time. I do not even offer anything more than quarterly so as to not tempt someone. If a client has been with me for a while and asks for it, I make an exception. But I don't want someone to sign up for more than that without knowing how we operate and being comfortable with it.

Most likely they flagged the payment as suspicious. Ie: a PayPal payment from Pakistan or using a credit card from a different country than your street or IP address. What country are you in and how did you pay?

I have a 2 year account with hostmonster and its coming up to for renewal in about 3 months. To be honest i have not exprienced any problems like you guys have and i can recommend them highly.

I have 14 sites hosted with them and have not had any problems at all with them but i guess it depends on what you want to do. in my case i didnt transfer any stuff. i was just starting in affiliate marketing.

I just have praise for them to be honest. i was a complete newbie and what i loved was the chat live coz i am in the UK and there are in the US. I asked them to do quite a bit of stuff for me which they did like put helping with my domain transfer and setting up my site.

This is quite easy for me to do that now but then i didnt know a thing. i has just read about wordpress and decided to give it a try. i would recommend them highly especially for newbies as you can have a site at click of the mouse using fantastico. i didnt know what ftp was so i have come a long way and thumbs up to hostmonster. They should pay me for this glowing review. I hope you guys will have your issue sorted.

    Disclaimer
I am not promoting hostmonster but these are my real exprience:)

As with sherry, I have been a hostmonster customer for a couple years now hosting multiple sites and I haven't really had any problems. Their customer service is usually pretty quick in responding to issues.

Seems like all hosting companies are crap nowadays. I just got fooled by some newbie support guys at HostGator, and now I have to pay everone off just to get my files back. I'm going to start hosting my own websites, this is bullshit.

Thanks for the heads up on HostMonster. I won't even try them.

As i asked them to reopen my website or refund me the full 2 year fee in the support ticket... now about 24 hr later i got a mail from them asking for my "PayPal holder's government-issued ID (such as a driver's license or passport)"

i have replied told them that i am fed up! i never had this much trouble with any host i experienced.. my website got blocked on day 1.. still whole 2 years remaining you people gonna kill me by asking me to show this.... show that.. i have had enough.. Now i dont want your hosting, there are thousands of other hosts who respect their customers.. and now why would i show you my this and that when i dont even want your hosting..
i paid you via paypal address with tansaction id XXXXXXX
    my account password was.. XXXXXXX
now kindly return me my money i dont want hostmonster anymore.

    thank you

HostMonster/Bluehost is the WORST host I have EVER had in 3 years of having websites. I will NEVER recommend them to anyone.
