The ACA (ObamaCare) mandates that all Americans buy health insurance or pay a fine. To offset the pain of purchasing these new, extremely expensive health insurance policies, the ACA offers health insurance subsidies to families making under $95k a year. Considering the median income in America is ~$60k a year, as of Jan. 1 2014, most Americans will now be on some form of government assistance (or have to pay a fine)

That means there were about 1.07 people getting some form of means-tested government benefit for every 1 person working full-time year round
