Hi everyone, I was checking my stats a few minutes ago, and something really strange was happening. As of about 10 minutes ago, I'm suddenly getting a direct visitor on avergae about every 10 seconds, only from foreign countries. All my other visitors (99%) come from the Netherlands They all go to the home page and then leave, visiting no other pages. What could be causing these visitors, this is really weird. Thanks for your help, Jesper
Nope, it's not possible to login. These werid visitors come from all over Western Europe, and some come from the US.
Very strange. There are so many possible explanations, there's no point speculating. Maybe your hosting company can help? Or can you reverse DNS some of the IP addresses and look for a common link between them?
It could also be an autosurf if you have your site on a rotator somewhere. I have experienced similar before. claire
i having same problem too but visitor come from one place only (belgium), they land on front page and off to no where, it make my site have 99.9% bounce rate, also created higher daily UV 13k vs normal day 100 uv
Yeah, I couldn't find anything about a cause either, but i might go contact the hosting company indeed. Anyways, after 8 minutes the visits start, so the "attack" was over soon .
I had the same problem... having looked through the stats I realised that some junk website, I think it was paidbux(dot)net or something like this, pay their members 1 or 2 cents for clicking on sites whereas they charge advertisers about 3 cents. I've never subscribed to their service and thus asked them to remove my site from their listing but got no reply... had to ban their IP through .htaccess. Now I get only real visitors. Check your stats and see referring IPs.
My freind has this problem before, but after awhile, she also not sure how it will become nature back.
Oh that is indeed quite weird.. I just hope I wont be encountering that one soon... You gotta consult the most EXPERT in the field.. Anyone here...?
Hehe . Well, I'm kind of glad I'm not the only one who had this problem. If another of these occur I'll go check detailed stats and BAN! Thanks all.
ever considered it could be social bookmarkers from some site. check if the page has been made popular somewhere?
Did you dig any deaper and check referring sites, etc? If you add Google Analytics to your pages, this would help you see.
I got this on a website that I no longer have running. Mine mostly came through list builders. All the traffic was purely just to get credits. No one was interested in the page. That came from list builders.
