I have a sites that is about one year old if not more, and it has always been in top in MSN. Lately I tried to get it "clean" in the META Tags and titles and the only thing that has happened is that the visitors disappeared to my site Now when I do a site: command the pages don't have any description, and when I click on the cache link then it says it has been moved: "Moved Permanently The document has moved here" WTH hell is going on??? Also when I click on some cache links it tells me "Could not find the requested document in the cache. "
I hope not. It's still there otherwise I wouldn't get anything when doing a site: command, right? It shows some pages with a cache date of yesterday, so maybe they are doing a "re-shuffle" or something. Weird though
my website that was $1 and #2 got back to #3 and #4 this morning so looks like it is starting to get back to normal .
Extremely weird. Live kicked my two year old site with about 400 links from serps, yet for my keywords it ranks websites with 4-10 links form irrelavent places!
May be accidently made some errors on meta tag. Like you forgot some quotes or spelling errors like, instead of description your meta tag got descrption and the robot is no longer seeing that tag? Or it could an effort from MS to change the algo to catch up with google. LOL!
How did you find this out? What do you do in place of 301's (if anything - as doesn't google recommend using 301's?)?
Google does recommend 301's. The issue is that MSN can't follow them. There is nothing you can do about it other than try not to change the names of any important pages!
My new directory.. which is 3 months old.. is also not indexed by M.. But showing 100+ backlinks.. all other search engines showing good number of indexed pages and backlinks too.. Cant understand the problem for Msn
also me, i cant see my homepage in SERP. i dont know what happen to my site. but when i used the command site: i see all of the my pages except the homepage. any idea about it guys? please advice.... gary
but it didn't help! Did some more research and to me it looks like they are having problems with php pages and query strings. At least on my site. I read here about problems they have with their algo, and maybe this is my problem? Maybe they are trying to fix that problem and other pages are affected too? Hope they fix this problem soon!
I think MSN has froze their engine. At least that's what it seems like because the serps for the niches I watch haven't moved in a month.
A difficult task on their hands. They have two different instances of search. MSN and Live Search. They each return different results for the same keywords. So I think Microsoft is trying to integrate the two search algos together. I preferred the MSN version, this new Live search is rather stupid.
MSN/Live.com is still a mess. I see a lot of spam site now, something I didn't before. Indexed pages are few and cached pages are a mess.
MSN has lost so much market share they must be planning a merger or even just wanting to die. Interestingly my banned site still gets spidered by MSN. http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=4183
