Weird results with the Google "site:" command.

    Hi all,

Any ideas why the Google "site:" command might be giving me totally different results on two different machines.

I recently submitted a sitemap via webmaster tools, having checked it states that 39 of the pages have been indexed. I checked this using the "Site:" command and my home computer shows 39 indexed pages.

I then check from my work computer and it states 9 pages indexed. Is this something to do with the cache, am I missing something glaringly obvious, or is something weird at work.

Cheers in advance for any help/advice.

It will just depend which Google datacenter you're connecting to. Google's datacenters don't all update at the same time, so you often see slightly different results depending on which one you're being sent to.

With the different datacenter, you will always get different results. But the real data, the data you should be looking at is from WebMasterTools. Set up an account with Google and us it. Also there is way more information there to use that will help. Oh, it free.

I don’t really care what the exact format is as long as I can use the keyboard to enter in commands. I CAD with both hands, not one, that make e twice as efficient as anyone that only uses the mouse. If it is a command line, or dynamic input, or just keyboard commands, I just want to use both hands

Thanks all, it appears both machines are now aligned and the whole site has been indexed. Cheers for your advice!
