We've got 5 computers in the office. On one of the computers we are number one for the keyword window film for a Google UK and regular Google search. On the other four computers we are third on page 3 (this is where we had previously been). I know there can be slight fluctuations but this is huge, any ideas why. If anyone else could have a look too our domain is www.visionwindowfilms.co.uk
4 of the computers are using Firefox browsers inc the one where we are top and then ones in IE. All are using www.google.co.uk and are even on the same network. Ive got my fingers crossed that the others will follow suit.
They arent hcanging though, the one computer were first on page one and have been all mroining where as the other 4 were third on page 3 all morning.
Are you logged into your Google accounts (Google webmaster/ analytics etc.) on any of the computers? Google might be shuffling the results to show preferences logged for specific accounts. This might explain the differences.
No, not logged into google webmaster on any of the computers, my computer is the only one that has ever logged onto google webmasters and mines one of the ones showing as third on page 3.
Yeah thats quite normal to be fair, few reasons for it. - Possible chance of different domains www.google.com, www.google.co.uk ect - Possible chance of being logged in and getting personalized results - The fact Google has many different datacenters providing results and not all these datacenters have the same results on them at all times, so you could be getting served results from different datacenters.
You're number 2 on the first page on my computer. It's normal for rakings to flactuate on different PC as google use personalised search even if you're not logged in.
I wouldn't worry about it. It sounds like a glitch or maybe just fluctuations in their rankings system.
Found the poroblem, the on computer had something set to personalize the searches as someone had said earlier. Thanks for the info from everyone.
Also you need to consider the Google Search Personalization, this will affect the SEO game... this is part of an article from http://www.sitepronews.com "What is Personalized Search? For the past few years, Google has been monitoring what you search for when logged into your Google account and in particular, what sites you click on in the SERPs. If you favor particular sites, Google takes note and customizes future searches to show you more results featuring your favorite sites, more often and in higher positions. For example, if you like t-shirt shopping online and are a regular visitor to Threadless as a result of logged in Google searches, Google would feature pages from Threadless more in the SERPs you see for t-shirt related search queries than would normally be featured in SERPs shown to others for the same search queries. Likewise, pages from Threadless would be pushed higher up the search results than they would normally be. Personalized Search has been in place for signed-in users for years, but this month Google rolled out personalized search to users worldwide, whether they are signed into a Google account or not. "... Enjoy
This happened to me too, I checked the PR of my website with one tool then with another tool and it says different PRs.... Also, I have curiosity about how Google places Websites in the SERPs... It fluctuate a lot.
Try to use rank checkers tools to verify your ranking .. Google uses a custonm search by country and especially if you are logged in ..
