Hey all, Noticed a few PR threads here in the last few days and at first i was a little skeptical at first as i had not seen any changes, now i checked one of my main sites. Domain: http://battlefield3forums.com/ website Age: 1 years, 153 days Backlinks: 5,562 Traffic: see image below: Based on the stats / info provided above i would have assumed a nice jump in PR this time around, but well it's confusing to be honest. Now this site has been PR2 for a while now, about 2-3 months ago i really optimized the site and it's also using VBSEO (really helps getting extra pages indexed) anyways today i checked the PR from several PR tools, some are showing PR2 still and others are showing PR0 ?? which really should not be correct as ive put a lot of work into this site / project. Your thoughts on this ? why would some PR tools show PR0 and others still showing PR2 ? Thanks in advance for any input regarding my site, will keep an eye on the thread. Regards, Darren
has google even done a recent update pagerank status? that can be 1 reason why your site hasnt increased in PR
Hi Darren, The increase in traffic to your site may have been for any number of reasons... But a "toolbar" PR update isn't one. The PR used in Google's algorithm is updated daily/constantly and so are the SERP's. "Toolbar" PR is updated a few times a year and is already old by the time its exported. If you see a sudden increase in traffic at around the same time as the toolbar PR is updated, its just a coincidence. Cheers James
Hi Darren, The traffic you see in Compete is just unique visitors a month, and it not represents your traffic from SE (in your case you focusing on Google). What you see in your analytics stats? Do you see there any significant increase of traffic from search engines (Google as you focusing on PR)? If most of your visitors are direct visitors, or from campaigns, it has nothing to do with PR. In addition increase/decrease in PR will not really impact your traffic that much. PR is just one of more than 200 ingredients of google alg that decides on SERP, and PR is not the main one. The main problem is that webmasters think if their PR going up, their traffic will go up. But in reality is other way around. If you have more traffic, eventually you are popular and naturally more websites will link to you, forums will more talk about you, and the more websites link to you the higher PR you will get.
