Weird Indexing Results -- varies Browser to Browser

My site is nailing all of our terms when searching in Chrome; however, Safari and FIrefox are yielding different results. We do the Google dance between positions 1-3 on Chrome, while being indexed 10-20 on the other browsers.

    What's going on?

Browsers do not have an effect on results showing up.
You are probably logged in to a gmail account or a google service of some sort.

Take a look at your ranking through a proxy. If your on page 1 through a proxy then you are on page 1 for everyone else as well.

I thought of that. I logged out of everything -- didn't make a difference. I even tried it on another cpu...could it be something to do with the cache?

Thank you -- that was very helpful.

I was looking at Matt Cutts videos right before I came here. Thanks for the help -- very interesting

Most people say that you might be logged on to your gmail account and thatz the reason it show different results. However I have noticed that even if you turn it off, parts of it are still on. In all the browser the one you use the most will have some cookies installed on your computer which relate to your search history at each major search provider. Then the results are personalised on your computer.

I am sure all the browsers might not send the same session id, as the cookies for that particular browser are completely independent and are stored elsewhere - thus it shows a completely different level of search results.
