Weird Google behaviour

    Hi there,
    Maybe someone will give me an idea why is google doing this ..
    I'm advertising a product thru one of my sites.
    Sponsor main site is productDOTcom and mine is productDOTnet.
    When searching "product" in google, my site is #2, right after sponsor main site and I do receive traffic from google according to my counter.
    Then , after a few days, my site dissapear from google serp's ! It's vanished for 4-5 days, my counter says 0 hits.
    After this period, comes back again in #2 position and stays there another 4-5 days.

    This thing has happened in the last 2 months with the same pattern I described before. 4-5 days it's #2 in serps, but then 4-5 days it's nowhere.

    A few data to give me a more pertinent feedback:
    - ~ 600.000 results when searching for my keyword;
    - my site domain has been registered 09-Sep-2005;
    - 630 backlinks according to siteexplorer, 90% of them being blog comments made around 4 years ago;
    - restarted work on this site 4 months ago by adding quality links this time.

    What should I do ? clearly site is penalized but have no idea which of my actions determined google to act like this.
    The on & off switching is driving me crazy, it's been like this for 2 months already , no matter what kind of backlinks I tried , I can't make it stable...

    Any suggestions ?
    Thanks in advance.

    If it's happening to you too then it must be something we're doing or not doing and that's the reason I opened this thread, maybe someone who has managed to escape from this situation is kind enough to share his knowledge.

    Get more backlinks with anchor like productdotnet. Then it will be stable.

    Seems like the Google algorithm cannot definitely decide if you are an affiliate or a standalone business site.
    Make sure you are not duplicating a content from the "Sponsor main site". Also some links with anchor "productDOTnet" will do the job.
