I've got a penny today on 0 clicks? Don't know what's weirdest - that I've had no clicks today on almost 400 impressions (usually I'd have 15 or so at least - though it seems the last three or four days have been very slow click wise...). - or that they paid me a penny with no clicks. I'm fairly new at the adsense game though, so maybe this is normal?

Up and down repeated is ok, that's life in the market. Gradual but steady down with lesser quality and quantity of ads is quite another My guess is there are fewer ad dollars for fewer products. Welcome to 2009
Reasons: 1. Those might be public service ads getting clicked but its unusual that most of the ads are public service ads. 2. You might be clicking your own ads.
The penny from no clicks was likely a Placement ad where you get paid by impression or impressions rather than the clicks.
You might take a look at the ads that are appearing on your site, you may have been infested with MFAs.
Yeah I don't see any on my end.. will have to check the Adsense preview tool.... Are these MFA's still kickin? I thought they were dead long ago lol
Unfortunately not I go in and clear out my list and repopulate it every so often. I usually just start over since there is no point wasting a slot for a site that is no longer advertising lol Also, I've found out by alternating the list, it mixes up the ads so the visitors get to see new ones more often.
