weird choice from google on crawling

    Hello,

My domain (www.wowforums.com) was crawled by Google on 8/21, but the only page ranked for the term "wow forums" is

    http://www.wowforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=261

this is listed on the fifth page of results. My index is not ranked at all as far as I can tell. Another search engine, MS Live, ranked my index as #4 for the same term - "wow forums"

My question is this: Why did google rank some random thread on my forum rather than the index, which has a better density for my target keywords?

I do a 301 redirect from www.wowforums.com/ to www.wowforums.com/forum/index.php via .htmlaccess, would this cause a penalty?

Edit: Also, many of the results above me have no backlinks or 1 backlink. I have one recognized backlink and have several that will be included in the next update.

Any suggestions, feedback, or ideas greatly appreciated.
