My site is about Applying to US University and it is mostly about application process GRE GMAT etc. Just for variety I sometimes write on a different topic. I recently wrote a piece on 600 dollar tax refund (For those not bases in USA, the US Govt. recently decided to pay free money to evrybody particulerly those making less than $75,000 per year. The amount of payment per person is $600). I was very surprised that if you search on "600 dollar tax refund" my post is top ranked on live.com (not in top 10 on any other search engine). I was wondering if live.com uses a very different algorithm. -app2us.com
Yes Live uses a very different algorithm. Actually i could say it uses a weird algorithm. It happens pretty often to see parked domains with zero or almost no backlinks ranking well for popular keywords. Live seems to put a lot of importance on the domain name and how recent your backlinks are, unlike google who likes old and strong backlinks. Grats for being first, hopefully it will last.
