Weight Vs Backlinks Question

Can I know how is the weights related to the backlinks? Say I want to get 5000 backlinks for a website. How much weight should I allocated to it? Should it be 5000 or more?

    Thanks.

You can't work it out that way. Closest to predicting it is by seeing it as a like for like network. If you give 5000 links, you will be close to getting 5K back. Weight is just an arbitrary number. It doesn't equate into anything.

A calculated guess can be made though. I've been pointing big and small amounts of weight at pages, both new pages and old ones. Based on my experience.. in order to get 5,000 links showing in Yahoo, you would need to point about 2,000 weight.
