I have a simple question on the way impressions are distributed... I haven't found another thread on the subject, sorry if there's one... I was wondering if the impressions you get on the network were only only based on your weight value or if they are also based on the actual number of ads you serve on your site. For example, on my site I have about 25000 pages views daily with co-op links, with 4 links per page. For a total of about 100000 daily impressions. In return I got an average of 3000 daily impressions on the network. I'm a little bit disapointed since I was expection a 1:1 ratio on impressions or something near that... Also, my site is only running ad since about a week, so maybe the fact that the site is new to the network can affect the results. Anyway, let me know what you think. Thanks for your help!
From what I have read, I think it is a little early to see the effect via backlinks as reported on MSN or impression stats. Good luck, Shannon
The number of times your add shows depends only on the google ranking of main page, and the number of sites indexed by google. (at least thats how I understand it) If you have a large number of visitors, but relatively few pages, you wil probably give a little more than you receive, but still usefull.
I'm new to the coop network, and still waiting to see stats but I think newz12 has a point. basically the 'ads' are 'ads'. The fact that we only do it to fool google is a (positive) side effect. So if you are just trading ads, numbers of 100k x 4 = 400k versus his 3k is more than "give a little more than you receive". If you would answer me by saying: it's the google thing that counts, you/we/shawn/santaclaus should make the ads off-screen; but they are not at this time.
Yes, I know that this network is mostly to get backlinks. But still, an impression is an impression. If I give 100000 impressions daily and I receive back 3000 impressions, the question is: who is taking advantage of the 97000 extra impressions I give to the network?
People in the network I assume..but I wouldnt put too much weight on those stats. They are kinda crazy.
I think the number of pages is a factor in the weight calculation. I.e. more pages = higher weight...
DaveDX: You can have a billion pages, but if you have no traffic you are not bringing nothing to the ad network. I don't understand the utility of the weight system when it's so easy to give back an impression for an impression you give to the network...
I get about 20 clicks from this advertising network per month...but about 10,000 backlinks. Guess why I participate The stats that are displayed are pretty random. You can set two separate keywords to the same weight (1-15) and in 3 days, you will have two completely different graphs. Brandon
